One-line Definition
An all-in-one portable projector for outdoor viewing.
Brief
The project combines a projector, speaker, collapsible stand and stored screen in a single cylindrical body. It is designed for camping and temporary outdoor setups where users need fewer loose accessories. The form emphasises one-handed carrying, quick placement and a calm appliance-like appearance.
Problem
Portable projection often requires separate stands, speakers, power accessories and screens, making setup fragmented and easy to forget. Outdoor environments also demand protection, stable placement and simple controls. The design therefore focused on integration without making the product visually heavy.
Concept Development
A roll-up screen is stored inside the body and accessed from one end, while the projector and speaker occupy the central volume. A fold-out base raises and stabilises the unit on uneven surfaces. Controls are concentrated on the circular end cap to keep orientation clear.
Structure & Prototyping
The exploded arrangement separates the optical module, speaker chamber, screen reel, cooling path and supporting frame. Perforated surfaces provide ventilation and visual lightness, while the external frame protects the body during transport. The modular arrangement also clarifies assembly and maintenance.
Final Design
The final design presents a compact horizontal appliance with integrated carrying and support features. A restrained white and grey CMF allows the lens and controls to remain visually prominent. Multiple views demonstrate how the product transitions from transport to projection mode.
Outcome
The project practised product integration, exploded-view communication and outdoor-use scenario design. It shows how several familiar components can be reorganised into a simpler setup experience. Further development would focus on thermal performance, screen tension and battery capacity.
